Motorcycle Accident

Motorcycle cases carry two problems at once. The injuries are severe, because there is nothing between the rider and the road. And the rider starts out blamed, since adjusters and jurors often arrive assuming motorcyclists ride recklessly. Overcoming that assumption takes physical evidence and reconstruction rather than argument, and it takes doing that work before the scene and the bike are gone.

Cases we handle:

• Left turn collisions where a driver turned across the rider’s path

• Drivers who pulled out of a driveway, side street, or parking space into a rider

• Unsafe lane changes and merges into an occupied lane

• Collisions where a driver failed to see a motorcycle before turning

• Rear-end impacts on a stopped or slowing motorcycle

• Collisions with opening car doors

• Road debris, gravel, and unsecured cargo causing a loss of control

• Potholes, uneven pavement, sunken utility cuts, and defective road surfaces

• Steel plates, expansion joints, and construction zone hazards

• Collisions involving trucks, buses, and commercial vehicles

• Hit-and-run collisions and crashes involving uninsured drivers

• Defective helmets, tires, brakes, and motorcycle components

• Passenger injuries on a motorcycle

• Catastrophic injury and fatal motorcycle collisions

We answer the blame with physical evidence.

A rider’s account alone is rarely enough, so we build the case on things that cannot be argued with. Scrape and gouge marks on the pavement, the final rest positions, the damage geometry on both vehicles, and the deformation pattern on the helmet establish speed, direction, and the point of contact. We bring in a reconstruction expert while the scene can still be measured and the vehicles still exist. In a left turn case, sight line and timing analysis frequently shows the driver had a clear view of an approaching motorcycle and simply did not look.

We document the injuries these crashes actually produce.

Motorcycle injuries cluster differently than car injuries. Complex fractures needing hardware and multiple surgeries, road rash requiring grafts, shoulder and collarbone damage, and head injury even when a helmet was worn. We make sure the record includes what comes after the hospital, including scarring, hardware that will need removal, joint damage that will worsen, and the realistic prospect of future surgery. The first offer never accounts for any of that.

We look for coverage beyond the driver's policy.

A serious motorcycle injury often exceeds what the at-fault driver carries, so finding the ceiling early shapes everything. We look at whether the striking vehicle was being used for work or business, whether an employer is involved, whether additional or excess policies exist, and what coverage may be available through your own household. Where the road surface itself contributed, there may be another responsible party entirely, and that route has to be identified quickly.
